BIO / CV

LYNNE ROBERTS-GOODWIN

Lynne Roberts-Goodwin is an Australian artist whose photo-based installations have been shown internationally. Her projects are most often created in relation to archival, cultural and/or historically resonant locations within extreme terrains globally.

With engagement at remote sites undertaken in situ or aerial elevated positioning, she engages with the politics of contested sites, aligned with and acknowledging contemporary culture. Utilizing media such as photographic, video, and sculptural forms, work to date has conceptually questioned the aftermath of landscape and more recently, concepts of navigational failure, engaging the oblique lens of spatial aesthetics, i.e., the complex entanglements between local and global ideas of place.

Accumulatively, Roberts-Goodwin’s large-scale projects form an ongoing estranged journey or narrative, tracking complex conditions of place that have had an impact, over time, upon cultural consciousness.

Roberts-Goodwin and her work have been the subject of national and international residencies, fellowship awards and exhibitions within key cultural institutions, museums, and galleries. Her work is held in significant private and public collections. More recently, in 2022, the artist was invited to participate with selected international artists on a site-specific permanent work at the Ex-Convitto Palmieri Museum, Lecce, Italy. Previous significant selected work includes:- London Biennale, London, UK, 2020; Tempo Squisito, MUSEO MEà, Asilo dei Creativi di Meano Museum, Meano, Brescia, Italy, Jan/Feb 2020; XII FLORENCE BIENNALE 2019, Fortezza da Basso, Florence, Italy, 2019; MiArt Art Fair, Milan, Italy April, 2019; Modern and Contemporary Art Fair, Milan, Italy, April 2018; Tempo Squisito, CINQUE MOSTRE 2018, American Academy in Rome, Italy; #navigationalfailure 5x5x5, #Commons: Cartography of Desire, Featured Artist Project, Palermo, Italy, 2017; #navigationalfailure, ABESONexhibit Gallery, Tulsa, USA, 2017 and Australia Council for the Arts, American Academy in Rome Inaugural Affiliated Artist in Residence, Mordant Family Fellowship, Rome, Italy 2017.
